Are You Doing Everything You Can To Be Successful? goals-definition

Are you sure?

What do you really want in life? Do you desire wealth? Health? Love?

Do you even really KNOW what you want? It is very easy to spend so much time working, and doing, that we don’t take the time to really think about our goals and aspirations. Before you know it, time goes by and you’re still working towards the same goal you were 10 years ago. Doesn’t it make sense that if you want to achieve your goals; you need to know what they are? Not just by saying, “I want to be rich” or “I want to lose weight,” take it a step further and describe exactly what that looks like to you.

If you want wealth, picture the house you will live in, the car you will drive, the clothes you will have. How much money will be in your bank account? Will you have investments, and if so, what will they be? What will you do with your money, will you put some away for retirement – if so, how much? Will you donate money? Who will you donate to, and how much will you donate each year?

If your goal is to lose weight, identify what that really means and looks like to you. What size clothing do you want to wear? What do your legs, abs, and arms look like when you reach your goal? What specific outfit do you want to look good wearing?

I encourage you to write down a full description of what your goal looks like when achieved. Describe, in as much detail as possible, what your life is like when you achieve your goal. Then, take a look at what you’re doing to make your goal a reality. Are you setting yourself up for success? Or failure?

If you want to be financially sound, but you don’t even balance your checking account, it probably won’t happen. When we put positive energy into making our dreams come true, they do. But, if we simply say what we want, and don’t set ourselves up for success, then we’re setting ourselves up for failure. Maybe not total failure in life – we may do ok, we may “get by,” but we aren’t likely to live our dream. Treat your financial dreams with respect by balancing your books – hire a bookkeeper if necessary. Pay your taxes. Create, and stick to, a budget.

If weight loss is your goal, you can start by identifying the reason for your extra weight. Do you consume too many calories? Are you not burning enough calories? Do you have a hormone imbalance? Is your thyroid working properly? Make the changes necessary to set yourself up for success. For instance, start eating the right foods so your body can better process the calories coming in. Get some exercise to help your body flush out toxins, release stress, and increase your metabolism. And, see a doctor who specializes in bio identical hormones and requires a complete blood test to review what’s happening to you at a cellular level.

Goals aren’t achieved when you simply say, or even write them down. You need to have a complete picture in mind, and then focus on doing things that bring you closer to those goals. I know this may sound simplistic, but take some time and think about it – are you doing everything you can to be successful?
